Job description
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the AdvanCloud platform team at Keonn. AdvanCloud is our core cloud product: a mission-critical SaaS platform that powers real-time RFID data processing, inventory management, and retail analytics for global enterprise customers. In this role, you will own both the technical direction and the day-to-day delivery of a multidisciplinary team of backend, frontend, and UI/UX engineers. You will act as Product Owner, Technical Architect, and people manager simultaneously, playing a central role in shaping the product roadmap and ensuring the team operates at full capacity.
What you'll do
- Lead, coordinate, and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning Java backend, frontend JavaScript, UI/UX, QA, and cloud client development.
- Own the AdvanCloud product roadmap: define priorities, scope features, manage the backlog, and align delivery with business goals.
- Make technical and architectural decisions for the platform, ensuring coherence, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
- Run daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and one-on-ones to keep the team focused, unblocked, and motivated.
- Collect and translate requirements from customers and the Customer Success team into well-scoped development tasks with realistic effort estimates.
- Identify and resolve technical and organisational blockers before they affect delivery timelines.
- Provide regular progress and risk reporting to the CTO and CEO.
- Lead AI-related initiatives: define scope, coordinate experiments, and drive integration of AI capabilities into the platform.
- Analyse security vulnerabilities, maintain compliance with Novanta’s security framework, and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure (AWS), including cost management, deployment processes, and platform reliability.
- Manage and oversee third-party integrations (Shopify, EAS Cloud, and others) in coordination with the relevant engineers.
- Protect the development team from unfiltered external interruptions, maintaining focus and a healthy delivery pace.
- Define or improve product lifecycle processes.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead role.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams in a product-led environment.
- Solid understanding of cloud architectures (AWS preferred) and modern backend development (Java or similar).
- Experience acting as Product Owner: backlog management, roadmap prioritisation, and requirements gathering.
- Strong ability to make and communicate technical architectural decisions.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure monitoring, and cost management.
- Experience working with AI and chatbots.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with strategic management responsibilities.
- Experience with security and compliance frameworks is a plus.
- Knowledge of RFID, IoT, or retail technology is a plus.
- Fluent in English. Catalan or Spanish is a plus.
- You are a resident of the EU or are in possession of an EU working permit.
What we offer
- A high-impact, broad leadership role with real ownership over product, team, and technology.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge RFID and cloud technology deployed in global enterprise environments.
- Young and dynamic work environment with a highly skilled team of engineers and PhDs.
- New 4,000 sqm corporate building next to Westfield La Maquinista, Barcelona.
- Specialty coffee and table tennis.
- Support for online training programs and professional development.
- Ability to grow in a fast-paced, international company within the Novanta group.
- Health insurance.
- Flexible compensation (Meal Card, Transportation Card, Daycare Center…)
